THE DECISIVE DECADE SERIES: Chaos, Community, and Compassion
Thursday, January 24 – Sunday, January 27, 2019
Whidbey Institute on Whidbey Island, Washington.
The Whidbey Winter Gathering is an invitational leadership conference imbued with a heartfelt sense of community, spirit, and service. It brings together a vibrant, diverse group of movers and shakers, social entrepreneurs, educators, healers, artists, and thinkers to explore social transformation and human consciousness.
2019 is the ninth year in the Decisive Decade, and the hoped for signs of an emerging ecological civilization are barely visible. What we are seeing is a global awakening to the stark realities of climate change; increasingly polarized politics, exponential technological change, compounded by unstable socioeconomic systems. As we ride the waves of change, the need to choose love and compassion over fear and hate has never been clearer. In this disruptive moment of chaos and uncertainty, there is abundant scientific evidence that evolution favors the “survival of the kindest” rather than the “survival of the fittest.” The better angels of our nature can birth a compassionate culture that fosters personal and social creativity, and thriving communities.
I loved returning to my home space in Thomas Berry Hall to draw during the plenary sessions. Click on images below to see them enlarged. Signed fine art prints are available in three sizes.
