Timing of Arrivals and Departures
Arrive on Sunday, June 9 You can arrive as early as 1pm to relax and begin connecting to the land and people. I will be setting up the hall and welcome your help! Take care of your own lunch before you arrive. The dining room will be a creative space for making name tags and decorating your drawing folder in the afternoon. You can check into your room at 4pm. Try to arrive by 4:30pm.
We gather for dinner at 6:00pm. The opening session begins at 7:00pm.
Our week closes with a special time of integration. This is a vital part of the experience. Our last formal session is the afternoon of Friday June 14. We will have dinner in the beautiful Maxwelton Beach picnic area. Enjoy beach walks, conversations, drumming and singing. Linger to watch late summer sunset over the Olympic Mountains. On Saturday morning, you are invited to my home in Langley for breakfast. This relaxed and joyous time is an enriching part of the Gathering, and makes the transition back to ‘ordinary life’ gentler. After breakfast you can wander the seaside village exploring shops, cafes and beach. The local taxi can take you to the shuttle.
If you must depart before Saturday, please stay until 3:00pm Friday. The earliest flight from Seatac you could catch is 7:00pm. The shuttle can also drop you at an airport hotel to catch an early flight on Saturday.
Tuition includes high quality morning through evening program, an exceptionally available facilitator and a generous supply of art materials. The cost of food and lodging has gone up and I want the Gathering to remain accessible. I have not raised the tuition and have actually added a lower priced option. Chose the tier that best matches your ability to pay. If you are able to pay for a private room, please consider selecting at least the standard tuition.
Supported Tuition $475 by April 10 – $575 after April 10

Lodging, Meals, Fees
Most rooms are small but have their own magic. There are no private bathrooms. When you register, there will be a text box to communicate special needs. If you want to be in a cabin but must have adjoining bathroom, note this. We will do our best to fulfill your needs. Contact us before you register if you would like to share a room with a double bed. See photos of buildings and rooms.
Private room $900 plus tax for 6 nights in farmhouse or cabin. We have one handicap accessible private room.
Shared room $600 plus tax for 6 nights in farmhouse or cabin.
Camp Ground $240 plus tax for 6 nights – Bring tent, sleeping bag & pad.
Commuter pays the facility fee when sleeping offsite. See below.
Meals $450 plus tax includes Sunday June 9 dinner through Saturday June 15 breakfast at Deborah’s home in Langley. Delicious home cooked, healthy meals prepared by our Whidbey Institute chefs are a memorable part of the experience. They offer the freshest ingredients, highlighting organic produce from regional and on-site gardens. Most meals are gluten and dairy free, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The chefs graciously honor unique dietary needs. Be sure to include these on your registration form. More about our chef and food.
Facility Use Fee $100 covers 6 days private use of Whidbey Institute, including Thomas Berry Hall, the Sanctuary, Labyrinth and 106 acres with trails. In an effort to make bring the costs for you down, the Center for Touch Drawing is covering the other $100 of the $200 fee per person.

When you register, the price for lodging will include food and fees. You will add tuition to this amount. If you have the ability to choose a private room, please consider at least standard tuition.

Whidbey Institute Financial and Health Policies
Whidbey Institute handles the registration process. The link to register at the bottom of this page. The deposit is 50% of your total bill. The rest will be charged to your card two weeks prior to the Gathering. Whidbey Institute will fully refund your deposit up to 60 days prior to our event. No refunds are given for cancellations after April 10. The Center for Touch Drawing must pay 100% the estimated contract 60 days before the event. If you cancel after April 10, CTD must still cover the remaining 50%.
We do not want concerns about the non-refundable deposit to deter you from registering. We know there could be a health issue or family crisis that causes you to cancel. If you must cancel after April 10, contact the Center for Touch Drawing. We would consider sponsoring your refund within reason, considering the cause and financial need. Or we would try to find a scholarship recipient to take your place.
Read Whidbey Institute’s current Covid policies here. We will provide covid tests when you arrive for no extra cost if deemed appropriate at the time.
The option of ‘supported tuition’ offers a very low price for the quality and length of this event. If you are able, we would appreciate the choice of ‘supporting tuition’ to help balance this. The Center for Touch Drawing will also fund a limited number of full and partial scholarships. Priority recipients are people in younger generations (20-40ish) who have the interest and potential to facilitate Touch Drawing in diverse settings. We need a next generation to keep Touch Drawing alive! If you wish to make a donation to scholarships for this year’s Gathering, find the link on the bottom of this page. An offering of any amount is greatly appreciated!
Travel – Read Before Reserving a Flight
Whidbey Island is 30 miles north of Seattle, Washington, with a twenty-minute ferry ride from Mukilteo to Clinton. Whidbey Institute is 10 minutes from the ferry dock. Read about travel options and arrival.
The major airport is SEATAC. Without traffic, it is about a 50 minutes drive to the ferry, but there might be ferry lines and traffic. Avoid all that with the Whidbey Seatac Shuttle. The optimal shuttles depart SEATAC at 12:30 and 2:30. Flights should arrive an hour before the shuttle departs. Make shuttle reservations when you buy your airline ticket. There is a new airport called Everett PAE. It is about 10 minutes from the Mukilteo Ferry. Catch the shuttle or take an Uber from PAE to the ferry, walk on and call the local taxi to get from the ferry dock to Whidbey Institute. Donate To Our Scholarship Fund
Please consider contributing to our scholarship fund to help someone attend this year’s Gathering. Our priority is to make the Gathering accessible to younger adults (20-40ish) who have the potential or are actively engaged in work that integrates creative expression. This is how Touch Drawing will live in the future! Any amount is appreciated. PayPal or credit cards accepted. These donations are not tax deductible due to goods and services being exchanged.
